Gainesville Jaycees – Gut Check Program
May 1, 2010
Lake Lanier
Fantastic event produced by InteractiveAngler.com in partnership with the Gainesville Jaycees! Many thanks to Emily Gaddy and Larry Sanderson for their hard work putting this one together. The Gut Check Program does great work for underprivileged youth in Hall County! Over $5,000 was raised for this worthy cause doubling last year’s effort! Free burgers from Wendy’s and great raffle prizes helped make this a special day!
It was close as Mitchell Mullins and Greg Couch took first place by under a pound AND big fish by .02! Second place went to the team of Rick Steckleberg and Kevin Stowers. This team graced us with a great interview (see the video), including valuable insights on the Herring spawn happening on Lanier right now! You don’t have to listen long before realizing these pros know their business! Kevin & Rick tell us where to look and what to look for including the best areas of the lake for targeting this shallow action!
View the tournament weigh-in video at www.laniermapped.com/tournaments.htm - if you have any trouble streaming we have recently provided a link to download/view.
On May 15th our film crew will be back at Laural Park to capture the weigh-in of the Georgia Transplant Tournament. Don’t miss this one as the first place prize is $10,000 based on 150 boats!
Thanks and God Bless!

Lance caught his personal best trophy blue cat along a shallow creek channle in 5 feet of water while fishing with Bobby's Catfish Guide Service on Lake Lewisville, TX

On sight, on the fly, on shallow mud, in a cove along the mangrove shoreline, chasing in baits, 1/3 of the body out off the water.
20 lb snook and the first time in the salt for my gunner Frederic. A great day followed by a couple bones and smaller snooks.
Fishing in not so optimal conditions in Louisiana this little freight train decided to show himself during a downpour. The wake you see in the video is actually from a lead fish, and this one is right in line in the train, ready for a nice spinnerbait lunch. As you can see in the video he garbage-cans the lure right by the boat. He was just over slot length at 27 1/2 inches. Good fun for a not so great weather day. We were in about two feet of water on a bayou near Delacroix. I was throwing a Terminator in-line spinner with a Queen Cocahoe plastic (purple and chartreuse).
So when the jaker is out chasing overgrown threadfins, the girls get into the action on Team Anglertube.com, and really went to work on the fish. We fished the Kiwanis Family Charity Fishing Tournament and the Bud Light Shallow Water Slam tournament on the same day. We placed 1st Jr. Angler Trout and 2nd Junior Angler Redfish in the Kiwanis, 1st in the Junior Angler Division in the Bud Light, and 2nd in trout overall. What a great day of fishing. Great job ladies!!!
I CAUGHT THIS TUNA WHILE FISHING ALONE IN MY SKIFF OFFSHORE OF THE BOYNTON INLET IN A 100 FT. OF WATER. "STRANGE TO CATCH ONE IN SO SHALLOW". , HAD THE TIMER SET ON THE CAMERA BUT HAD THE CAM SET ON PORTRAIT NOT SPORT SETTING. "OOPS", GRILLING DINNER TONIGHT. CDB
CCBA Tournament. All boats heading to same place. Boats behind us, infront.
Gin clear water, sunshine, and plenty of hungry 20-30 lb. sharks to catch. This was one of the many double up's we had that day. As you can see I have a heavy spinning rod in hand. That soon swtiched to my Shimano 4000. What a great light tackle fish!!!
